Shelf Candy Saturday (1)

Gentle Readers,

You know what a sucker I am for a good book cover. (See, The Hollow) Well, a big thanks to Five Alarm Book Reviews for this great idea to showcase awesome covers and recognize amazing artists! I could honestly do Shelf Candy Everydays :). New blog idea? Hmmm....

My pick for this week is a gorgeous cover that took my breath away and made me want to read this book right away. (Well, after I finish Swoon, the first book of the series...)

You have to admit the cover to Nina Malkin's latest book, Swear, is stunning!  This book could just list the alphabet over and over for 300 pages and I'd still buy it.

I'm hoping there's more to the book than this, but really at this point I don't care. I'll just frame the cover!

The beautiful Swear cover is designed by Cara Petrus at Simon & Schuster and now I'm on a mission to find every one of her cover designs. A fan is born!

  2. I agree with you the cover is gorgeous. On my ereader some of the books don't have an actual picture on the cover just blank with the title. I can't stand that.
Visiting via Blogaholic. Congrats on getting your Twitter. I am still trying to figure it out. Touch much of a talker and not enough space to say what I want say ;) Your blog design is very nice I love the leather look makes me want to feel of it.

  3. I'm not normally a fan of covers with people on them (odd? maybe :D) but this one is rather lovely.

My current favourites are the Shiver/Linger/Forever covers. SOOOO pretty.

  4. @ Patricia - A friend of mine accused me of spending the extra money for the Nook Color only because I wanted to see the pretty covers(prob true). Imagine my disappointment when I downloaded my Galley Grabs (am I really griping about free books? Yep. I'm an ingrate.) and, like you said, no pretty covers, just titles. Boo.

@ Ruth - I totally agree! I was just talking about this on my review of The Hollow. I don't want the publishers putting a face in my head, I'd prefer to imagine the character myself. However, I agree (obviously) that this is the exception. I think it's bc I can't see her face.

I also agree about the Shiver series (it's really why I bought the books in the first place, I can't lie). Their book jacket design is so unique and beautiful. I expect we'll be seeing rip-offs in the future!

The review has no spoilers but gives you an idea of whether it's good or not.
Thanks for participating in Shelf Candy.
