Movie Monday: "My Week With Marilyn"

I love books (clearly) and I love movies, so I thought it would be fun to feature more book-to-movie info on Steph's Stacks. Feel free to participate if you are moved to do so. The more the merrier!

Here we go:

I wanted to feature the movie My Week With Marilyn starring Michelle Williams (release date: November 23rd). The Oscar buzz has already begun for Williams and cast, including Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judi Dench and a post-HP, Emma Watson and the movie hasn't even been released yet!

William's did extensive research to play the role of Monroe and it shows, just check out the trailer below. I swear Michelle Williams is the Meryl Streep of her generation (Have you seen Blue Valentine yet? A-ma-zing!)

Here's the poster:

Gorgeous, non?

The movie is based on two books/diaries by Colin Clark who met Marilyn on the set of The Prince and The Showgirl (where he was an assistant). Clark had a bird's-eye-view of the chaos of Marilyn's life and the on the set conflicts between her and co-star Sir Laurence Olivier.

...and here's the trailer:

I just love it and can't wait to see more!

What book-to-movie adaptation are you eagerly anticipating? Feel free to share in the comments below or in your very own Movie Monday post (link below and don't forget to link back to you buddy here at Steph's Stacks!)

  1. When I first heard about this movie, I kind of wondered how Michelle would go in her role as Marilyn... I couldn't really picture it. But maybe I've underestimated her. Either way, I'd love to see this film! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)
