Movie Monday: "We Need to Talk About Kevin"

I love books (clearly) and I love movies, so I thought it would be fun to feature more book-to-movie info on Steph's Stacks. I would love to hear about some of your most anticipated book-to-movie releases!

We Need to Talk About Kevin

Great poster, huh?

Book Info: (Goodreads)

The gripping international bestseller about motherhood gone awry.

Eva never really wanted to be a mother - and certainly not the mother of the unlovable boy who murdered seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his sixteenth birthday.

Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin's horrific rampage in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin. Uneasy with the sacrifices and social demotion of motherhood from the start, Eva fears that her alarming dislike for her own son may be responsible for driving him so nihilistically off the rails.

The movie has been nominated for (and has won) several awards including a Palme d'Or nomination at  Cannes and a Golden Globe Best Actress nod for Tilda Swinton. Early Oscar buzz is good. I'm pretty sure this movie is not the feel good pic of the year, but just might be a must see!

Movie Info: (IMDb) Release Date 1/27/12

Director: Lynne Ramsay

Writers: Lynne Ramsay (screenplay), Rory Kinnear (screenplay)

Stars: Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly and Ezra Miller
