The Scoop: (Goodreads)

Katie Sandford has just gotten an interview at her favourite music magazine, The Line. It's the chance of a lifetime. So what does she do? Goes out to celebrate - and shows up still drunk at the interview. No surprise, she doesn't get the job, but the folks at The Line think she might be perfect for another assignment for their sister gossip rag. All Katie has to do is follow It Girl Amber Sheppard into rehab. If she can get the inside scoop (and complete the 30-day program without getting kicked out), they'll reconsider her for the job at The Line.

Katie takes the job. But things get complicated when real friendships develop, a cute celebrity handler named Henry gets involved, and Katie begins to realize she may be in rehab for a reason. Katie has to make a decision -- is publishing the article worth everything she has to lose?

My Take:

Spin was a great break from YA and Paranormal fiction I have gorged myself with lately (not that I don't love because I sure do). So, the scoop is Katie has cocktails with friends, frequently, but on the surface of things no more than the people in her circle. Due to her journalistic ambitions, she finds herself in rehab and learns a little bit about herself along the way (natch).

For Alexander Skarsgard, I'd go undercover in rehab...

Katie slowly, but surely, confronts her own personal demons in a fun (as rehab can be) way. The supporting characters are interesting and you're curious how Katie is going to maintain her friendships/romances with them.

For Charlie?....Not so much.

Spin was a great, quick read. Katie is a funny, flawed and spunky heroine of the best sort. She reminds me of Bridget Jones or Becky Bloomwood (of the fun Shopaholic series). You know where it's going, but you hang on for the ride because it's so much fun.

Final Verdict:

  1. I really enjoyed this book. I was really surprised that I enjoyed it so much. I really want to read her second book called Arranged.
