In My Mailbox (20)

This great meme is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren and you should head over there straightaway to check out what's hot in books right now.

Okay, for real, I am in book purchasing time out for all of April. This week the stars aligned, and every book from my wishlist (almost) either came up on my library holds or came through from a requested ARC or was on super sale at the ever-amazing Half Price Books. So, judge me not friends, but this week holds a bounty of treasures!

ARC's (via NetGalley):

Yay, NetGalley! I had a chance to read the first chapter from Julie Kagawa's The Immortal Rules via a galley of The Iron Knight and I knew I had to put it on my wishlist ASAP. I can't wait to get started!

I've seen the cover for The Dark Kiss everywhere and since I'm starting to warm up to the angel genre (thanks Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Unearthly), I'm excited to get started with this one.

ARC's (via Edelweiss):

Oh, Edelweiss. I want to take you to Vegas and marry you, I love you so! I loved Eve and Starcrossed and had given up all hope of getting either of their sequels a second earlier than the day of their release (and that was fine, but with Eve's cliffhanger, I was dying to know what happened!). Then BAM! They both came through and I did a little happy dance for sure!! I love the cover The Selection and I have been on a dystopian bender lately so I can't wait to dig in!

Free Fridays Selection for Nook:

If you are a Nook owner, you might already now that B&N offers a free book every Friday. The book of the week is offered for free for an entire week. So, it's not to late to grab your own copy! If you need more info here's a link: Free Fridays for Nook.

This week: Dare to Die by Carolyn Hart

The Scoop:

“If I were teaching a course on how to write a mystery, I would make Carolyn Hart required reading.”
Los Angeles Times

With over 40 books—and Agatha, Anthony & Macavity Awards—under her belt, Carolyn Hart has been delighting cozy mystery fans for decades.

Today’s Free Fridays selection, Dare to Die, is a great introduction to Hart’s writing for new readers, and a wallet-friendly treat for her many current fans. In this Death on Demand mystery, Annie and her Private Investigator husband Max find themselves wrapped up in a local scandal when a troubled woman is found dead following one of their parties. Annie tries to let the local law enforcement handle the case, but soon she and Max seem to be the murderer’s next target—leaving her no choice but to launch her own investigation.

Hart’s irresistible book—set in the quirky town of Broward's Rock, South Carolina, has everything that a cozy mystery fan could want.

That's it for this week, peeps! I can't wait to peek at what was in your mailboxes this week! Be sure to stop by The Story Siren to see more buzzed about books and share a few of your own!

    1. Yay! Millions of books!!! I'm starting The Selection tonight so, review to come ASAP just for you. I really liked Eve and am excited to see what happens in Once because Eve had one hell of a cliffhanger. I'm so excited about all of these books that I'm almost in a state of inaction because I don't know where to start!!! I am officially on a book buying ban for a couple of weeks.
