Kate Winslet Joins Divergent Cast

Indiewire reports that Oscar Award winning actress, Kate Winslet, has joined the cast of the upcoming movie adaptation of Divergent. No word yet on which role she is playing, but my money is on Jeanine Matthews the evil plotting leader of the Erudite, but only time will tell...

Salinger Rolls in Grave

The notoriously private J.D. Salinger will be getting quite a lot of attention in the next couple of years. Simon & Schuster will be publishing a biography, The Private War of J.D. Salinger by David Shields and Shane Salerno in September of this year. A documentary series, Salinger, directed by Salerno will air on PBS in January of 2014.

I think this will be an amazing opportunity to peek behind the scenes at the life of the reclusive author. In response, I would imagine Mr. Salinger would think us a bunch of phonies.

Me Before You Gets Movie Deal

THR reports that MGM has acquired the rights to Jojo Moyes's novel, Me Before You. The best seller was released last year to great reviews.

In a related story, THR also features 11 of the biggest books to hit the big screen including Schindler's List, Jurassic Park and Forrest Gump.

I Want to Ride My Bicycle, I Want to Ride My Bike

Megan McArdle of the Daily Beast make an excellent point about the lack of bicycles in post-apocalyptic fiction. Why on Earth doesn't someone just grab a Schwinn and ride away from all of those pesky zombies?!

Sylvia Plath Rolls in Grave

Zoe Triska of HuffPo makes a plea for publishers to put a little more thought into the covers of classic novels. Particularly those written by feminist authors. It seems that in an effort to lure in younger female audiences, some publishers have dumbed down the covers of many novels such as Plath's The Bell Jar.

Head on over to the Huffington Post to check out the offenders. Traci Egan Morrisey at Jezebel also weighs in with a few crazy covers that defy logic.
