Waiting on Wednesday: Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead

A weekly feature showcasing upcoming books that we want in our hot little hands right now! Thanks to Jill at Breaking the Spine for hosting this feature. Be sure to head over there to discover more books to add to your wishlist!

Okay - full disclosure - I had a chance to read an advance proof of Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead in February, so I guess I'm not technically waiting for it (PS - it is GREAT!). But...I am excited to buy a copy of the hardcover when it is released because it was that good and the cover rocks and that's just how I roll...

Release Date: 6/4/13

In a futuristic world nearly destroyed by religious extremists, Justin March lives in exile after failing in his job as an investigator of religious groups and supernatural claims. But Justin is given a second chance when Mae Koskinen comes to bring him back to the Republic of United North America (RUNA). Raised in an aristocratic caste, Mae is now a member of the military’s most elite and terrifying tier, a soldier with enhanced reflexes and skills.

When Justin and Mae are assigned to work together to solve a string of ritualistic murders, they soon realize that their discoveries have exposed them to terrible danger. As their investigation races forward, unknown enemies and powers greater than they can imagine are gathering in the shadows, ready to reclaim the world in which humans are merely game pieces on their board.

Gameboard of the Gods, the first installment of Richelle Mead’s Age of X series, will have all the elements that have made her YA Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series such megasuccesses: sexy, irresistible characters; romantic and mythological intrigue; and relentless action and suspense.

Sounds great, non? Be sure to pop over next week to see what else we are ardently (yet patiently...sort of) waiting for!

  1. Your right, Gameboard of the Gods, sounds really great. What's not to like: sexy, irresistible characters; romantic and mythological intrigue; and relentless action and suspense. Dang it, I hit the add to goodreads button again! *Grin*

    1. That Goodreads button gets me every time!!! My TBR list is ridiculous. I will need to quit my job, stop watching TV, stop eating, stop leaving the house and only read for years to catch up. And that's only if every author will just stop writing books - starting now! This one is great though and is worth bumping up your list!

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I like finding series early on too, but there is something to be said for being late to the party because then you don't have to wait for the next installment to come out :) Thanks for commenting, I'm on my way to your WOW right now :)

  3. This sounds really good. This might just be my first Richelle Mead book! I know, I'm lame for saying that. I'm waiting for the Vamp Academy to be done before I read that, and now I think I have to wait for Blood of Eden saga too.. /sigh

    1. You're not lame, there are so many series that I haven't gotten to yet either (there are just too many! Not a bad problem to have though.)

I would highly recommend the Vampire Academy series and I'm pretty sure she is finished with it, so feel free to start anytime. I'm trying to catch up on her Bloodlines series right now (well, they're sitting on my shelves, that counts, right?).

Thanks for being a new follower, you rock! I'm on my way to check out your blog right now!

  6. Oh, Richelle, why must you keep writing books I want to read?! But seriously, I love your take on this one, Mary, despite the lack of answers. She has a habit of writing books that I can't help but keep reading!
